Mages should be a lot more rare

Honestly feel like magic users are far too common and over used, which then leads to magic users becoming dull and mediorce, due the price of runes i imagine only high earning people or nobles would have acess to them in the first place aside from a few exceptions such as the wizards from the wizard tower and so on.

But a commoner with a low income would likely be unable to use magic due to not having the funds and probaly  not having the acess to the knowledge of how to cast magic.

RS RP Interviews: Mohave Ahkran A.K.A Peter

*The Interviewer smirks as he crosses one leg over the other, scribbling in his notebook.*

Welcome to RS RP Interviews Mohave Ahkran A.K.A Peter! Would you like a cup of tea, Mohave?... Or should I say Peter?!

No thanks on the tea, and either Mohave or Peter work, I tend to go by both these days depending on who I am with! I'm glad to be here. *Peter gave a small smirk, sitting back in his seat and folding his arms across his chest.*

*The Interviewer chuckles, slapping his own knee as he drops a lump of sugar into his own cup.* So, Pete-y, where were you born? The Varrockian slums, the Kharidian desert? How was life growing up?

Where did I grow up? To be honest, I couldn't really tell you. I was a slave in the Kharid, moved around camps in the…

RS RP Interviews: Katrina Lansing!

*The Interviewer sips his tea, offering a cup to Katrina as he smiles kindly.*

Welcome my dears, to the RS RP Interviews! This week's interviewee is Her Former Highness Katrina Lansing! I hope I got that right, my dear?

*Katrina takes her cup politely but does not sip.  Instead, she gives the Interviewer a kind smile, a motherly smile, and nods.*

Close enough, darling.

*The Interviewer grins, crossing one leg over his other as he taps his chin.*

So, my dear, let's get straight to the question everyone has been /dying/- *He chuckles at his own joke before carrying on.* -to hear! How did you die?

*Katrina gives her own soft chuckle, though her smile fades a bit.*

Call it old age, if you like.  Old age in body, but not in years.  I suppose living wa…

RS RP Interviews: Rebooted

Well, lookie here. Two years ago I started a little thing called RS RP Interviews, where I would interview well-known or nominated characters. Apparently it was a massive big hit with you all, so I'll be starting it up again along with my soon-to-be art shop. :3 Look below for more details!

RS RP Interviews is a continous blog by yours truly where I interview your character on an IC-OOC basis. This basically means we're both in-character, but there will be OOC elements, and no characters are allowed to use this as IC information. There will be silly questions and detailed answers, so it's a fun game all around!~

Got it? Then let's move on!

This section is all pretty clear, m'dears. You simply need to gain three or more votes by people other than y…

My Letter to You

Dear Rosaline,

I won't lie to you anymore; if you have received this letter, then I have perished somewhere far away from both you and St. Elspeth's Hospital. I feared such might happen but there was something I had to learn for myself. In either case, by the time of my death I will have found what I was seeking. Hopefully, you will understand why I did what I've done. If you don't, then know I won't hold it against you. I'm sorry for any pain and anger you will feel upon reading this. I know my words will be little consolation... but as you told me once in another life: there are some things worth dying for—or in my case—someone.

Currently, I write to you off the coast of Rellekka, in a Fremennik fishing vessel bound for the far north. You'…

The Third Night/What The Crow Saw

It was like all of the superstitions and stories that were once dismissed as childhood tales had all come together at once.

Thea sat perched on top of the Poison Arrow pub with several of the soldiers she had begun to call brothers during the extended siege. The mood had been optimistic during the day but by nighttime laughter and conversation that she and the others shared during the day had given way to a silence that was only interrupted by stony-faced sentries returning to give reports.  People had been disappearing even before the first major skirmishes and there were rumours of creatures hiding in the sewers…
Stop the rumours, stop the thoughts, they would go in her mind and fester and spread like the rot that set into the enemy’s flesh…

Misgivings of a Cleric Part III

*Misgivings of a Cleric Part III is the final installment of a trilogy revolving around Rosaline Haines and the Forinthry Ossuary. Reading through Part I and Part II will give you a better appreciation of the story below. Enjoy!*

Planting her boot hard on the man's chest, Rosaline steadied her longsword and drove its point through his heart in one swift motion. His cries for mercy were cut short, only to be replaced by the soft sighing of his last breath. She watched as the life left his eyes and, once gone, wrenched the blade from his body. She felt neither pity nor remorse as she crouched and wiped the blood off her blade with a rag from the corpse. He and his buddy had thought her a frail maiden, she rationalized, and had likely planned …

Universal ranking system

It's a topic I can't seem to find any article on the wiki. It is about ranking.

RuneScape is considered a medieval-themed game. In role-play, we often use real-life history to fill the gaps. A lot of roleplayers have come up with various wonderful stories. One interesting plot is the noble families and their plots. Or military plots.

It gets difficult to know your place if everyone uses their own ranking. Some things are pretty obvious, basic knowledge of some ranks brings you far.

But what about lesser know ranks? I already did some research and found lots of count ranks: count, viscount, burgrave, markgrave, landgrave, ... Not everyone is an expert and if somebody would use this rank it is good to know someone else did it for you.

What about…

Featured Article 2.0?

So the featured article idea went south and tanked. It's a shame the concept failed, but with it being the popularity contest it turned into, it's also good that people lost interest. There's already a sickening amount of Internet-penis stroking and OOC malarky in the community, and this is the last place I'd ever want to see facilitate that!

So.

I propose two new and improved versions of the aforementioned concept. The following will be an explanation of how these work.

1.

The Administrators of the wiki shall each find 3-5 articles that fulfill the criteria that has been in place for the old featured articles. That criteria being,

  1. Article must be well-written. The article must be engaging to the reader and must give a good impression of this…

So WHAT did I miss this time

While this would be a perfect forum topic in the forums, I still deem the forums unfit for several of my needs as I thought at first it was completely pointless and thus I shall use a blog. Don't like it? LOL.

I know you miss me.

So, I left RS for awhile(No surprise, like, who hasn't. The games dead guiz), and of course my knowledge of the everyday RP World(LOL, LIKE THAT EXISTS) is just about outdated by now(Like, I stopped playing in June). This isn't really the first time I've done this either.

Now now, I know I have like half of you on Skype and I could just easily hit one of you up and be all like "YO WASSUP WT(DISNEYBLEEP) HAPPENED ON D42(that stands for Dead 42 btw)?" and someone would tell me and all that, but you know what? I'm Azta…

RSRP Interviews/Strithac

Hello, and well met. Welcome to this interview! It's been a horribly long time and I hope you enjoy it! This is the first conducted through RuneScape as the main media rather than Skype, so please, with pleasure, enjoy the read!~

NOTE: Due to the nature of this character, it's asked to keep opinions on why such a race would be interviewed. This is all for fun and simply breaks the fourth-wall as they're intended to.

This interview is with the character: Strithac

The Interviewer would gesture her guest to sit opposite of her in the ruins of an old tower based in Morytania, the setting was that of gloom and melancholy.

Strithac the archivist takes his seat opposite the interviewer, he would appear ready to answer questions.

"Hello, and I thank yo…

Citations on guides.

After a good deal of conversing with my friend about various lore points, I took to this wiki for some information.

Then something hit me, and I realized how actually unreliable this entire wiki is, especially for guides.

There are literally no citations on the guides.

Like, it doesn't even need some big blog post. This is kind of embarrassing for all of us now that I realize this. The reason why lore arguments can happen is because all the guides aren't cited. You can't just link someone to it and truthfully be like, 'hey, it works like this'. Because there's just no cites. How accurate is all of this actually? I got no idea.

This needs to be a project.

On the concept of character pages.

I've realized something about roleplay.

Roleplay within the context of genuine and good textplay, is an awesome hybrid of collaborative fiction and a choose your own adventure story. This is why some of us stick here through thick and thin. We absolutely love the suspense, mystery, intrigue, and interactivity that comes from a very good session. Essentially, we feel the emotions our characters do. Is the character legitimately dying to know about another's past? Chances are that you are too! So long as you don't already know. It's just how it goes, because sometimes it can be so immersive.

That's not what I realized, though! I've known that for a while.

What I have just realized is this;

All the abundance of information found on these charact…

A Fine Farewell

Well... there comes a time in everyone's lives that they have to move on from something, I only wish for me it didn't come so soon. Around July 20th Raltin will be leaving the Runescape community, as there are some important things coming into my life: college, adult life, work, etc. But don't fret my friends, runescape has become a part of my life, do you think I would give it up so easily? I will probably never again be able to get on Runescape nearly as much as I used to, and for about five months it may be impossible while i'm at my trade school a whole state away from home, but I will try to get on as much as possible during weekends when I'll be home. Due to a recent interest in starting this up again, I've taken the oppurtunity to try to run the RSRP Interviews. This will be based off of the old interviews that were conducted by Leo (see examples of the original interview series here). I'm hoping to have a lot of fun with this, and I hope for it to be active and entertaining. Nominate characters you like by filling out the applications on this blog in the comments section below. Seperate blog posts will be made for each interview and linked in the section at the bottom.

First and Third Person Descriptions

So, something caught my attention in an FC the other day.  The use of first person to describe a character's actions during roleplay.  I'm not unfamiliar with this, and while everyone has their own style of roleplay, I can't recommend using first person over third.  Continued use of first-person descriptions is a practice that only carries risks, and no benefits; leading to inferior roleplay ability compared to what may be developed through the use of third-person descriptions.

First-person descriptions constantly use "I", "my" and other personal references that constantly equate the character to the roleplayer.  Each action typed builds up the subconscious notion that the roleplayer is his or her character, and makes IC and OOC separation …

Just an Idea

Note: It's very barebones as is. It is, at least for now, designed to be a sort of sandbox RP with a linear story as well. Much of it will no doubt break future lore and events made by JaGex. You've been warned! Also, yes, this will be set within W42's lore, so you will be able to use your characters/your alternate future characters or start from scratch. Caution: nothing is set in stone yet. Details are likely to change as time goes on.

I've entertained this idea of mine for a while now. Basically it's set 21 or so years in the future, in an alternate reality where the second God Wars have really kicked in. Regions of the world, most notably Misthalin and Kandarin, have suffered from a series of destructive world events (Saradomin vs. Arma…

Calculating the power of each magical spell

I was roleplaying recently using magic when I thought of an interesting idea: exactly how destructive is each magical attack and how could it be used most effectively? As such I'm going to take a look at exactly how much each magical attack could harm someone. Though this is highly dependent on a few things so I am going to assume a lot things in this article:

I'm going to assume water is pure H20 and no trace elements. This is extremely important as trace elements could add to the weight and therefore destructive power of water.

I'm also going to assume that the average earth spell is pure rock at roughly 1 and a half foot in diameter. The reason being is that a 3 foot rock made of granite would weigh roughly 1 ton as granite weighs about 1…

Alaric strode off the wooden stage to the cheers and clapping of his enraptured audience, a smug smile on his face. Unlike our previous leaders, he mused, who so neglected the value of such ostentatious addresses. Alaric made a gesture and several of his loyal bodyguards quickly swooped in to disperse the crowd as he stepped out of the round chamber and down a separate corridor, one reserved only for him. As is my right as Seeker after all, he added internally.

As he wove his way through the maze of corridors Alaric lapsed into a moment of quiet reflection. He had truly come so far since …

Creative writing group?

In the recent past, I realized something about roleplay here. Specifically, in regards to pure textplay. In my opinion, the key to quality textplaying and enjoyable roleplay sessions, is when all participants treat it like a creative writing exercise, instead of a game. When every character action is so vividly portrayed, instead of so simply wrote without effort, is when roleplay in this game really becomes something special.

I realized this, as did a friend of mine. When we did, our one on one sessions became exponentially more fun and involved. Even if it could take a heavy five lines of text to describe someone's mere facial expression, that was simply part of the package of doing roleplay like this.

And then we got to thinking further. …

The Corporeal Beast Paradox

After talking about various bosses heading to lunch during school with my friend, we came across the particular boss known as Corporeal Beast, one that seemly is weak to Zamorakian Spears. After awhile on the subject I brought up that there must be some kind of lore behind such a thing, that there must be a reason behind why the Corp halfs all other kind of damage...

After awhile of quick searching I then came to the topic of the Dark Energy Core.

"According to Jallek, the dark core contains a portion of the players spirit within it, as the beast has been draining it during Spirit of Summer and Summer's End. After the player and Meranek Thanatos break the chestplate protecting the dark core, it will fall out and, as it contains sections of t…

Bard's College, Anyone?

A bard is generally classified as a poet, writer, and/or musician, sometimes even a thespian/actor. So, like our old friends William Shakespeare and Christopher Marlowe. I've seen a good bit of creative characters out there, a good share of poets, writers, minstrels, and so on. So, I was thinking, to train aspiring merrimen and people who are generally interested in the humanities and the liberal arts, what if we set up a place for them to learn and teach what they know about the arts, sort of like a school for the humanities? In my experience, entertainers are extremely fun to roleplay as, free to do what they wish, going on various adventures and such...

This is a blog post.

So this is just me getting used to wiki features (And hoarding badges) so... Nothing special being talked about here. May start making more blog posts about something, if I can find something worth mentioning. Maybe life events. Like finally making a Sim who lasts more than 3 days without collapsing and dying from lack of needs fulfilled (Yay for debugging!)

...Or maybe I'll post like, thrice on it, and then never look at this blog again.

What I Learned From 1oaK

Warning, this page may contain

SPOILERS

for the quest One of a Kind,
Especially if you enjoy quests for the new lore they contain.

Proceed cautiously given that knowledge.

  • 1 I Learned...
    • 1.1 Human Origins
    • 1.2 Dragon Riders
    • 1.3 Dragonkin and Dragons
    • 1.4 Mysterious Statues

  • There is a magic that can preserve life by suspending it in lifelike stone, to be reanimated later. Depending on circumstances, though, some variations of this magic seem to leave the victim conscious/sentient while others put the victim to sleep.
  • Those who are reborn via reincarnation after death are able to retain faint memories of their previous lives. For example, while Bob the Cat did not remember keeping his secret library at Unferth's house, he instinctually knew the location felt…

A Walk in the Past - In-Character help needed

  • 1 Howdy Y'all!
  • 2 A Walk in the Past
  • 3 Why do I need your help?
    • 3.1 PLEASE REMEMBER TO...

As we all know - Stelly has just started to lead her well awaited Realm of Horror plot-line that's going awesome; but what's going to happen after and why do I need YOUR help?

Varrock Museum have comissioned a representative to run a tour in both Lumbridge AND Draynor to educate guests about their realm's past.

After Realm of Horror has finished: The Varrock Museum will be running two tours. One in Draynor and one in Lumbridge. On the tours, guests will learn about the history, both known and unknown - but more the unknown stuff - about the area since the end of the god wars or possibly during/before.

In short terms: I have no idea as to the In Character History of the two…

Misgivings of a Cleric Part II

Rosaline Haines was no stranger to bad weather, but what she and her griffin flew through now was unlike anything she'd ever seen before. A fierce storm raged around them, buffeting the two with heavy winds and pounding rain. It was as though two great spirits were fighting in the clouds high above, their strikes clashing together to create the thunder that reverberated throughout the valley, rattling both rider and mount to their very cores.

Lightning flared into existence ahead of them. Skelkesh, the griffin Rosaline rode, was forced to make a sharp bank to avoid it. She drew left, and then plunged downward at a steep angle. Her sudden movements jolted Rosaline, who threw her arms around the griffin's neck in order to avoid being thrown o…

What the Dragonriders Looked Like

I know this is not the most important thing, and this blog post is not going to be very long, but I am excited to reveal something that I have discovered through dialogue just now with Mr. Mordaut. He has told me that the dragonriders were able to bond with the dragons due to them sharing "reptilian taxonomy", which means the dragonriders were lizard men! Ha, big mystery figured out before the new quest was released! Unless you already knew this, then I just made myself look like an idiot just then. Either way I'm happy to find out the info.

Jack vs. JaGex and Others

So I guess those Garden Pamphlets actually caused some grief. Too bad I wasn't given the ability to explain myself on the thread itself. Perhaps I'll make it through appeals.

Thankfully, if not, the pause is only temporary.
